Did you know that the Divorce rate in Canada is 38%? That means that 38% of the female population have a dress in their closet, full of memories that they might not want to keep.
For Divorcees, or Women left before, or at the altar - celebrating their freedom helps them to regain their confidence and find themselves again. These women throw Divorce parties, and of course - Trash their Wedding Dress.
"Trash the dress" began as a post-wedding photography trend. Typically, newlyweds get another use out of their big day attire by dressing up and posing for fun, romantic photos in which they lovingly splatter one another with paint or roll around on the beach. On the contrary, young ( or young at heart) Divorcees are taking the art of wedding dress destruction to a whole other level by trashing the dress and everything it represents.
By modeling in "trash the dress" style photo shoots, these women are metamorphosing an often shameful social status into one that signifies optimism and strength, and here is how they are doing it:
They are turning betrayal into beauty
Dancing in the ocean then donating their dress to a good cause
Splattering with Paint
Getting down and dirty in mud or oil
Making themselves into a zombie bride for Halloween
and my personal favorite... Setting that B*tch on Fire.
Not only do ‘trash the dress’ divorce photo shoots provide an outlet to unleash pent up anger, but also an opportunity to get pampered with professional hair and makeup services. After your physical and emotional transformation is complete, you’ll feel way hotter than you ever did when you were married. The resulting photos will be your sweet revenge.
